Weathering the Storms with your Inner Fireworks: Happy 4th of July

Wednesday, July 3rd, 2013

It is always important to stick together to weather any storm, and as many of you know, we are right of the middle of a huge Mercury retrograde, that will not be coming to an end until the middle of this month. This one is definitely a doozy because, just in my world alone, four people are having car trouble, two people are having phone trouble, I’m having computer issues and communication delays and misunderstandings are happening on a regular basis. As always, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Sometimes, we have to reach within ourselves and find that extra glimmer of G-d’s divine light that lives within us and, other times, our loved ones shine their light to help us find our own. During this Mercury Retrograde, both sources of light are needed. It is so easy for the human mind to categorize and quantify suffering. But, suffering, as a whole, should not be quantified, because suffering on any level, from any cause, at any time, is difficult. During these times, it is important to remember to think before you speak, because you never know what those around you are going through, even if you’re close to them and they share, it is never the same experience or intensity experienced by the one who his suffering. So often, we tend to think that presents are the best way to show consideration and, often, love for someone else. But, then, the storms of life occur and it becomes ever so apparent, the most important gift you can give someone is your physical or mental presence. Even something as simple as a phone call, text or positive Facebook comment, can do wonders to help those feeling the downpour. So, if you ever find yourself thinking “I can’t just call or text that person.I need to do more,” remember that you don’t know the full extent of the power of light that G-d can shine upon that person, through your efforts, using you as the instrument.

I want to wish everyone a happy summer and a happy 4th of July. may the light of the fireworks stay in your memory, to light up any dark nights you may face during the rest  of this year. Remember, in the words of Katy Perry, “baby, you’re a firework!” Use your light often, and G-d will help it spread bigger and better than you ever imagined. Love, light and blessings, Melissa
